Roteq 110 Steel Wire Armoring Line For Sale

A Roteq 110 wire Armoring Line (CBR1315), currently installed at a Wire and Cable company in Texas, is up for sale. The line was manufactured in 2006/2007 and is a Right to Left configuration. It will accommodate a maximum cable diameter of 3.5" (89 mm) and has a maximum line speed of 100 FPM (30.5 MPM).

The line consists of:

96" (2.4 m) fork style, trunnion support Rotating Payoff, shaftless with pneumatic disc tensioning (adjustable from main panel), 30HP rotational drive motor.
Stem Payoff frame: 110 positions
Rotating Pre-Twister, line shafted from Rotating Payoff
Pre-Form and Tension Stands: 110 positions
60" (1.5 m) Rotating Belt Caterpuller Capstan with 60” track length and 30HP Belt Drive and line shafted to Rotating Takeup.
96" (2.4 m) fork style, trunnion support Rotating Takeup, shaftless with reel drive of 10HP and rotational drive of 50HP
Radio Frequency video monitoring
Powered Bobbin loading and unloading arrangement

The line will handle bobbins with 96" (2.4 m) Flange x 68" (1.7 m) overall width and has a lift capacity of 20,000 lbs (9 MTons).

The drive and control system includes Parker 690+ AC Vector Drives and Controls, Allen Bradley PLC and operator interface, and separate pedestal type operator station.

Rick Narang Presented with Texas-Themed Gift of Appreciation

Bonham -- For more than 12 years, Rick Narang has sponsored quarterly dinners for local officials and industrial leaders in Fannin County. On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, the business community reciprocated by presenting a beautiful Texas-themed quilt to the Connecticut resident. Mr. Narang, president and founder of global manufacturing equipment supplier Wire & Plastic Machinery Corp., purchased the former General Cable Corporation facility almost 13 years ago and Bonham Industrial Foundation formally recognized Narang in 2008 for "his exceptional contribution to the community in the creation of jobs and improvements to the economy of Bonham."

"We always look forward to our great friend coming to town," remarked Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd. "This quilt is a gift of appreciation for all he does for Bonham."

Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd welcomes guests to a quarterly gathering local officials and business leaders.

Mayor Floyd, along with Beth Robertson, Lewis Donaghey, Allen Sanderson, Bob McCraw, Spanky Carter, Bill Yarbro and Tom Turner commissioned quilt maker Misty Jones to create a special gift for Narang and the impressive result was on display during the dinner Wednesday evening at Shumardii's Bar & Grill in Bonham.

In addition to being an artistic creation, this is a gift that will certainly come in handy for the Bristol, Connecticut resident during those cold New England winter nights.

The industrialist and entrepreneur also took a moment to reflect on the inviting business environment in the Lone Star State.

"Texas is a great state," Narang remarked.

The Narang family was well represented at the dinner because Mr. Narang's son, Eshan, a recent graduate of New York University, was also in Bonham for the event.

Fannin County Judge Spanky Carter expressed his appreciation to Narang for assistance as the county relocates employees in preparation for the restoration of the 1888 Fannin County Courthouse.

"He wanted to help us and we really appreciate it," the county judge noted.

First off, thank you to all who visited with us at the Interwire Show in Atlanta last week. We had a great turnout and as usual, showed off our inventory wares and provided food and refreshments throughout the 3 days, to customers, colleagues and friends. On The Road Again...

Wire and Plastic Machinery Corporation will be present at several major Wire and Cable events in the next 2 weeks. We will highlight our everchanging inventory of over 30,000 pieces of 2nd hand wire and cable machinery located in 3 million square feet of warehouses across the USA.

Starting next Monday, Rahul Sachdev and Erik Macs will participate in the Wire China show in Shanghai, China. The show runs from September 26-29, 2016.

On Thursday, September 29, 2016, the Southeast Chapter of Wire Associaton International will hold its 15th annual Golf Outing (the "Vannais") in Conover, NC. Rick Narang and Robn Baringer will be present for this event.

On October 3-5, 2016, the International Wire and Cable Symposium will hold its conference in Providence, RI. Rick Narang, Greg Malcervelli, Erik Macs, Denis Godin, Rishi Narang and Eshan Narang will all be present for this show.

Finally, the Wire & Cable India show will be held in Bombay, India from October 5-8, 2016. Rahul Sachdev (flying in from the Shanghai show) and David Forber will be holding court for this show.

Rahul Sachdev is Executive Vice-President of Wire & Plastic Machinery Corp.

Mr. Sachdev was a receipient of the 2016 Charles D. Scott Distinguished Career Award, which is awarded to individuals in the wire and cable field who have served the industry for a minimum of twenty-five years and have demonstrated outstanding professional acumen along with personal attributes of exceptional degree.

Mr. Sachdev joined Wire & Plastic Machinery in 1985 during the early start-up days of the company.

He has also held various positions with the New England Chapter of the Wire Association and served as Chapter President in 2003. In July 2010, he was elected as President of WCISA for a 3 year term. WCISA is a non- profit North American Suppliers Association with approximately 100 member companies.

CONCURRENCE –

I had problems finding the right word to describe what is going on next week. I finally found “concurrence” of which one of its meanings is a simultaneous occurrence. How do you simply describe the assembly of these seemingly totally unrelated events – Super Bowl Sunday (and without Roman numerals to boot), Chinese Lunar New Year (#4713 - Year of the Red Fire Monkey), Mardi Gras (and subsequent Ash Wednesday and Lent) and the continuing visible planetary alignment of Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Mars and Jupiter. Add in the first real primary vote for this year’s presidential election (New Hampshire) and you have a lot happening in a very short week. I noticed all this first when making up the annual family calendar and it just awed me that such major events could just align themselves one day after another. Does it mean anything? Of course not. But it does raise some good water cooler/coffee pot conversations. And there are always some that think it does mean something more. For instance, according to the Chinese Five Elements Horoscopes, Monkey contains Metal and Water. Metal is connected to gold. Water is connected to wisdom and danger. Therefore, we will deal with more financial events in the year of the Monkey. Monkey is a smart, naughty, wily and vigilant animal. If you want to have good return for your money investment, then you need to outsmart the Monkey. Metal is also connected to the Wind. That implies the status of events will be changing very quickly. Think twice before you leap when making changes for your finance, career, business relationship and people relationship. And don’t forget that, supposedly, if the NFC team (Carolina Panthers) wins the Super Bowl, it will be a Bull Market; alternatively if the AFC (Denver Broncos) wins, then a Bear Market. By the way, I am rooting for Carolina mainly because, I just don’t like teams that beat my favorites. And of course, for Mardi Gras, just say “Laissez les bons temps rouler.” Let the good times roll!

Robin has over thirty years of experience in the Wire and Fiber Cable Industry. He has worked throughout the industry for General Cable, Thermo-Electric Wire and Cable, Chester Cable, Remee Products, and O’Tech Corp. His expertise includes, cable design, extrusion processes, braiding, fiber optic tight buffer and loose tube processing. GETTNG READY FOR GERMANY –
The Wire Show in Dusseldorf will be happening on April 4-8 and of course, given the significance of this show and its distance away from us, means a lot of advance planning. Erik Macs Joins WPMC as Director of Sales

Erik A. Macs has been named Director of Sales for Wire and Plastic Machinery Corp. of Bristol, CT. Mr. Macs has over 25 years of experience in wire and cable machinery sales. Previously, he had been involved with ebeam crosslinked wire materials research at Judd Wire, blown film packaging manufacturing at Union Camp, extrusion and injection molding processing at Dennison and Teflon film heat sealing and thermoforming research with American Durafilm. He has a degree in mechanical engineering from Central New England College. He has been a member of the Wire Association International since 1991 and was the recipient of WAI’s 2013 Donnellan Memorial Award, which honors an individual’s contributions to the Association, as well as WAI’s 2004 President’s Award for extraordinary volunteer service. He served two terms on the board of directors of WAI. He is still a member of the Education Committee, Member Relations Committee, and Paper Awards Committees. A former director of the New England Chapter of WAI, he also served as that chapter’s president in 2000. He developed the seminar “Introduction to Insulated Wire Manufacturing” which was presented by the New England chapter in 2001 and 2002. He has also chaired the Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing program since 2007, frequently serving as a course moderator and presenter.

Erik and his wife, Laura, have been married since 1986 and have one son, John (24). They currently reside in Natick, MA.

Since 1981, Wire & Plastic has assisted clients by providing secondhand or rebuilt machinery for wire drawing, stranding, bunching, cabling, braiding, extrusion and other cable making needs.

During Interwire 2015 WPMC had a premier booth location and as a result a lot of attendees stopped by. Visitors were treated to a modern audio/visual display including a panoramic view of our Bonham, TX facility. One could see 200 – 300+ machines in excellent condition on the shop floor. Our famed hospitality of a full service bar including refreshments and lunch was once again a big hit!

It was a great opportunity to say hello to old friends and make some new industry contacts. Several meaningful discussions were held which should result in orders shortly. Overall the show was a big success and all expectations were met.

Wire & Plastic Machinery Completes Solar System in Rhode Island

Wire & Plastic Machinery Corp. has recently completed a solar system on the roof of its warehouse building located in Attleboro, MA. The project, which was funded fully via a partnership between Altus Power and Wire and Plastic, and installed by KRN Solar, will sell the electricity directly to National Grid in Rhode Island through a competitively awarded 15 year contract. All of the power generated by the system will be sold to National Grid who will in turn deliver the clean energy to its customers. Wire and Plastic will receive a clean energy system on their property as well as roof lease payments for the length of the contract.

The 498 kW system is composed of 2,128 solar panels and will produce approximately 625,000 kWh per year. The energy created will offset 328 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which is the equivalent of the CO2 emissions from about 36,768 gallons of gasoline every year.

Reconditioned Tensor SZ Strander

Wire & Plastic Machinery received an order to recondition a Tensor OC-1000 Strander and Dual Binder Assembly from our inventory. The machine was built in 2000 and was in decent shape but required all new electronics, new operator station, custom programming, replacement of worn parts, and a new paint job. The machine was test run for the client to gaurantee performance specs.

After a few months in the shop, we are proud the share a few pictures and a video of our work. The machine looks and perfoms better than new!

Project Scope

- New replacement bearings and timing belts were installed
- All pulleys and sheaves were inspected and replaced as required
- The machine complies with the original specifications
- Parts were disassembled from the machines and painted to customer specifications

Wire China 2012 Show Report

Wire & Plastic Machinery had a successful show at WIRE China. We received numerous visitors from Asia, including India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and China.

The show is becoming increasingly international as we also had discussions with customers from Russia and the Middle East. Despite the slowdown in Chinese and other Asian economies, there were still quite a few active projects that were discussed during the show. The quality of attendees was certainly better than the past. After the conclusion of the opening ceremony the North American pavilion was one of the stops on the VIP tour.

Robin has over thirty years of experience in the Wire and Fiber Cable Industry. He has worked throughout the Industry for, General Cable, Thermo-Electric Wire and Cable, Chester Cable, Remee Products, and O’Tech Corp.

His expertise includes, cable design, extrusion processes, braiding, fiber optic tight buffer and loose tube processing.

Robin has experience with Machine layouts, applications, installations and understands the global environment and technologies in today’s competitive processes. Implementing the need for better production and maintaining a quality product.

Robin and Harry Haun will jointly manage our North Carolina operations and both will be available to meet with customers.

This machine was fully rebuilt at our Bristol, CT facility and was commissioned at the customer site by our engineers.

Reconditioned Watson Planetary Cabling Line for International ITER Project

Wire & Plastic Machinery received an order for a fully reconditioned Watson Planetary cabling line to be used for the manufacturing of superconductor cables. These cables will be used for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) in Cadarache, France.

ITER is a large-scale scientific experiment intended to prove the viability of fusion as an energy source, and to collect the data necessary for the design and subsequent operation of the first electricity-producing fusion power plant.

The ITER Agreement includes China, the European Union, India, Japan, Korea, Russia and the United States. The Members of the ITER Organization will bear the cost of the project through its 10-year construction phase and its 20-year operational phase before decommissioning.
