Wire & Plastic Machinery Corp. attended the Wire & Cable India trade show in Mumbai from November 18-20th, 2010. Rahul Sachdev, Executive VP, and David Forber, International Sales Consultant, praised the show for its success in attracting a high number of attendies and for its potential as a long term venue for new business opportunities.
Mr. Sachdev spoke with Wire Journal International regarding the exhibition and Wire & Plastic Machinery's presence in the South Asian market. Here are a few excerpts:
Sachdev: This was probably one of the better show's we've been to in terms of projects and activity. These are exciting times in India. Everybody seems to have expansion plans. There were attendees there from a broad spectrum, including top-level managment as well as general managers, plant managers, and maintenance managers.
WJI: How important is India as a venue for your members? How hard is it for them to do business here?Sachdev: "The key is that this is a long-term opportunity, not a three- or four-year growth cycle, like what happens in the U.S. It's important for companies to be here, and those willing to invest will be rewarded. It's not hard to be in the Indian market. It's a democracy, it's English-speaking and laws are based on British rules. Yes, there are infrastructure problems but rapid improvements are being made. What's important is that business is being done here, now is the time to establish relationships.
